Stereoactive Media presents the 16th official entry in its music catalog – a single called Nobody Asked For This by Libel, which also features a remix by theJLM. Here's a message from Libel mastermind, Gavin Dunaway:

As you likely guessed, “Nobody Asked For This” is more commentary on the current chaotic milieu. This one came together pretty quickly and felt very relevant.
The lyrics were inspired by a faulty TV — a flicker in the bottom right corner that quickly grew and soon took over the entire screen. And that felt an apt metaphor for a wash of fermenting emotions: anger, betrayal—from our government, from our fellow Americans—and a feeling of helplessness, stronger than ever before. I’ve long written music to help work out frustrations about uncontrollable forces, but the caged, feral anxiety of “Nobody Asked For This” — vocals that feel violently expelled rather than sung —feels like something new.
And I feel this is a shared sentiment—not even Trump’s supporters asked for what’s happening, and the ones who still back him are just desperate to believe in something… and “own the libs,” I guess.
Musically, maybe you can tell I’ve been in a krautrock zone—lots of repeated spins of Beak>, in particular. Yup, I’m still having fun with arpeggiators and drones, but I tried some Radiohead 'In Rainbows'-esque guitars to switch things up. I’ve wanted to do something more spoken word for a while, and this seemed like an ample opportunity.
Even cooler, when I sent it to Jeremiah, he asked if he could remix it. Of course, I said, hell yeah! Have you heard the electronic stuff he’s been pumping out? And he worked some magic for the remix—I love the variety of grooves and atmospheres he’s able to create from that arpeggiator.
“Nobody Asked For This” is the first single from 'The Accumulation of Things,' probably the most personal album I've ever written. It will likely confuse people with its mixture of aggressive electro bangers and more mellow, earnest songwriting. Who doesn’t like their middle-age malaise interspersed with booty shakers? I keep recording more tracks, slowing down the release “schedule,” but I’m convinced it will be “shipped” in the fall.
